Old new places...

Tech data: Olympus OM-D - Olympus Zuiko ED 14-150 mm f/4-5.6
Location: Innsbruck - Austria
Sometimes it might happen that you return to the same place more than once, as it might happen that you always come from a different direction.

Other times you can find the same place new at your eyes, changed, perhaps under a thick blanket of snow you can barely recognize it.

More or less that's what happened over past weekend, I find myself in front of a snowy Innsbruck, with this row of colorful houses along the river Inn, and do not remember to have never been there ... at least maybe I just had some kind of different eyes ...

Photo of the month: February

Each of us is different, unique. Our culture, society and experience makes us unique.

So in our photography, we return a unique view of the world.
Our message, however, is not always clear, clean, direct.

Some technical choices may be required: a long time to emphasize the peace and quiet, black and white to emphasize the structures from the point of view of composition but nothing is better than eliminate all that is superfluous.

Eliminate unnecessary to keep our observer focused on our message is crucial. So simplify as much as possible, few elements convey the most of our message.

"Less is more" is the new photo of the month on my website. Enjoy!

The...snow-shot

I awoke into a snowy landscape, one of those days when it’s nice to enjoy being at home, and every year I cannot avoid to take the annual "snow-shot" to my Lab Jasper.

I personally love snow, but he is really crazy about it! He ran around in circles as fast as he could, and then ran again kicking up the snow.  He was smiling the whole time!

Look at him jumping and leaping into the air while goes crazy chasing snowballs! I love to see him happy!

Non-places

French antropologist Marc Augé coined the phrase "non-place" to refer to "places of transience that do not hold enough significance to be regarded as places".

We can not ignore them, they are in our everyday life: lights, colors, people.

They transform themselves with darkness and artificial light: they are the "Non places".

Year in review: some shots from 2012

Another year has passed and now that I have had some time at home, I would like to share some of my personal favorite photos with you.

To be honest, I find the process of picking my best images of any given year to be a difficult one. Ansel Adams once said that “twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop”.
Maybe in the end, twelve photographs every year really isn’t such a bad number, but for some reason I decided to reduce the chart and propose my personal Top 5 in this very moment.

So here they are, in no particular order...Enjoy and keep in mind that your feedback is always appreciated! Have a good light for 2013!

Umbria - March 2012
Provence - June 2012

Nature is the best artist and the best source of our inspiration.
Who can be the perfect artist better than Nature?

These amazing ice patterns seem carefully scultpured by hand and I found them on a shallow lakeshore during a recent trip near my hometown.
I can not wait to visit this place with more snow and ice in search for more photographic pickings.

"Winter pattern" is the new photo of the month on my website and the first of this brand new 2013. Enjoy!
